JDC Intriguing Reads: Check out two critiques on two highly controversial books. The last is on a colorful history primer for little patriots reminiscent of The New England Primers.
"OBAMA WHY BLACK AMERICA SHOULD HAVE DOUBTS" By William Owens, Jr., Forward by Dr. Alveda King
A must read for anyone who desires to be self-sufficient, secure and hopeful in preserving America's foundation and their own way of life.
What is the truth? Does the mindset of Black America really abdicate core principles and beliefs in favor of following rather than thinking? Author Owens, Jr., argues, "Electing Obama as president will . . . set back Black America for decades to come."
Owens confesses, "I could be branded for the rest of my life for taking an unpopular stand against the first Black American to run for President of the United States. Nonetheless, I willingly accept the mantle that has fallen on me, and I am at peace with my decision because I must speak out."
One of the unexpected stands in this book is Dr. Alveda King's commentary, and whether there is any concrete comparison to be made between Barack Obama's interests for Black American and that of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.?
"For those who suggest that Barack Obama advances the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I say look again. His politics are anathema to the dream!" -- Dr. Alveda King (Niece to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.).
"THEY MUST BE STOPPED: WHY WE MUST DEFEAT RADICAL ISLAM AND HOW WE CAN DO IT" By Brigitte Gabriel
Brigitte Gabriel is the most sought-after terrorism expert in the world. In her new book she boldly challenges the attitude and psychological response, or should I say brain washed politically correct notions about Islam. She speaks as a victim of Islamic terror.
Explosive and on target. . .she reveals why countries around the world must pay attention to how a once peaceful religion became violent with a conquest mentality. Whose main driving force is the Koran promoting the idea that no government has any right to exist unless it obeys Islamic law. A law that insists on controlling the way you live; absent the words "democracy and freedom".
If you want a preview of your future as an infidel under the control of Islamic Sharia law, and understand what is true, and what is misinformation being spread in America, don't hesitate to check this book out.
"LESSONS ON LIBERTY: A PRIMER FOR YOUNG PATRIOTS" By Peter Lillback and Judy Mitchell
James Madison once said: "The diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty." What say you?
This is a lavishly illustrated and colorful fun, fact-filled educational book using the alphabet to travel through the basic facts and principles of American liberty. The book is neatly packaged and interspersed with delightful caricatures, photos, quotations and surprising facts about our nation. The writers have included definitions from the 1828 American Dictionary of English to add food-for-thought connecting the past with the present.
What a wonderful way for any child to learn what it means to be a proud and patriotic American, and why.

Will Text Messaging Kill You?
JDC PARENT'S LEGACY-COMMENTARY: With the use of modern technology, the need arises to not blindly make selective choices that prematurely change the course of one's life or others.
What does daily stress, hectic schedules and distractions have in common? . . . One individual's actions of choice, the potential of an accident, premature death and a couple minutes of notoriety in the obituary column.
Our world is truly a wonder and marvel of the natural, and man-made technology. In the covered wagon days, the strong-willed risk takes, the settlers of the West, would never have envisioned what we deem, the tools of modern day prosperity. Things placed in plastic casings with chip memory capability to do just about anything, perhaps even future genius secretly able to rule the world.
Man too often forgets: it is the human element of an imperfect being, lack of experience, the stress of the times or just pure stupidity that changes the equation of how one's reaction to a situation can change the course of a life.
Why is it one bypasses common sense in lieu of expediency? What can't wait? In place of practicality we vie and cultivate patterns for the advantages of the here and now. A self-imposed schizophrenia: "need it yesterday."
A recent fatal incident in the State of Illinois magnifies the consequences of a growing trend: text messaging while driving . . .
Text messaging appears to have played a significant part in the death of five cheerleaders. Teen girls marked by beauty that delights the senses. Graduates with prized long hair, infectious smiles and an air of pride beaming back from the front page of a major newspaper. Photographed visions of the fragile spirit of youth snuffed out like the wick of a candle.
A tragic loss of five women, whose personalities the world shall never get to know. Mankind shall never envision what special gifts and talents they possessed, nor the contributions they may have made to the betterment of society. Never shall they know the fulfillment of a bride's fantasy, or a house with a picked fence or the joy of birth and sleepless nights. Gone forever is the dream: to experience the wonderment of one man's love.
Somehow in a matter of seconds: a message was sent, replied to and in the course of those actions, the driver lost control and hit another vehicle. Several seconds later, a call to 911 for help. . .woeful seconds of time recorded on modern technology and then - silence.
We are all someone's son or daughter. We are a legacy to our parent's love, their instruction, guides both by word and example. When our children complain, "they have heard it before," how can one assume they truly get it? The fact that there would actually be severe consequences to their actions, floats obliviously through their brains. Perceived as innocent nothings, low on the gage of importance.
Just hours before the accident, Sharon Montgomery a safety advocate interviewed on The Newsroom, Fox News indicated how serious and ever increasing the situation of cell phone and text messaging use while driving has become. Presently there are only five states in the country that have restricted cell use and one restricting text messaging. In the State of Illinois the only place where restrictions are in force is in the City of Chicago.
As adults do we need to be forced into restrictive practices? Apparently with our precious children, we do. Man has to find the happy medium between expediency and common sense so that anyone of us is not the next victim. Like the issue of seat belts this too will require a mandated law unless man can better monitor himself.
If one refuses to let common sense guide them - what good is it? Do we as a society wait for that knock at the door, opening it to a sinking feeling down to the pit of our stomach - the palpitation of a pounding heart - the instantaneous outcry of a loving mother as she sees before her two men in uniform, with badge numbers and holstered Billy clubs and the identifiable proud stance of an officer of peace? . . . No Officer wants to be at that open door, but it is part of the job to not only protect, but to bear the ugly burden of notifying a parent of the loss of their dear child.
Is your life worth losing over a few minutes of delay? Is it worth it to continue to breath and enjoy all that life has to offer, by pulling over for a few minutes to answer a cell phone or text a message?
What seems to be missing in the selective evaluation by individuals of why accidents and deaths happen is: "The perception that one can do more than one thing at a time while driving." On the road the pressure mounts, distractions occur, delays and setbacks affect our psyche. It only takes "one second" in time, to kill yourself or mangle your body forever and tear a family apart. Are you willing to take that chance for "just" a few minutes saved? . . . If you are ask yourself why?
How sharp or stupid can a driver be? I guess Forest Gump in the movie says it quite eloquently: "Stupid is what stupid does."
